What is Difference between  NVR and  DVR

What is Difference between  NVR and  DVR

  1. NVR use cat5 or cat6 cable RJ45 connectors and require POE if the camera supports it. DVR use BNC connectors and Coaxial cables with another cable for power.
  2. NVR can support higher resolution most of the time. DVR only supports 2MP even some of the new Hybrid or Tribrid DVR supports only 3MP
  3. NVR has few advantages- Cat5 is light weight and easy to manage, no need to run the separate power cable. IP camera is even available in 20MP and higher.
  4. IP cameras cost more than TVI, CVI or AHD cameras.
  5. When upgrading from Analog cameras to HD system, TVI, CVI or AHD might be a good choice because old coaxial cables can be used. If BNC connectors are old change them, to the better compression BNC connectors. Even change the power supply if needed.
  6. If you think name brands like Samsung, Arecont Vision, Acti or Vivotek are expensive, then you can use Dahua or Hikvision. If you still need a break in price, use OEM Dahua and OEM Hikvision.
