CIF

DVR System

This is the poorest resolution quality that a DVR system produce. CIF resolution produces pictures at 320 X 230 Pixels. At such pixel proper identification is very unlikely and it would not help you in court trials.  If the incident happened very close to a security camera system then you have certain chances that you would get an identifiable image. CIF is not useful for distant subjects or objects. Even though it has limitation, yet you may find these DVR system as a standard recording device at many of high profile security clients. There are various reasons for keeping CIF as a standard recoding format but most important of all is FPS rate. FPS stands for Frame Per Second.

2CIF or Half D1

CIF produce mediocre recoding qualities. Kinds of DVR systems are recommended for home security purposes. The pixel quality is better than CIF; it goes up to 720 X 260 Pixels. With average picture quality they both, the CIF and 2CIF, are preferred for their frame rate. Line interlacing, which is a major drawback of 4 CIF is another reason why people go for 2CIF. While you are opting for 2CIF video format make sure that you have a closed up camera positioning, otherwise you will not be able to use its pictures for clear identification.

4CIF or D1

4CIF produces the best picture quality; up to 720 X 520 Pixels. 4CIF’s best resolution combined with professionally configured CCTV System enable your home or commercial security system to identify distant suspects effortlessly. 4CIF are not recommended for places where the camera system has to capture moving objects due to its downside of being line interlacing.
