IP stands for internet protocol camera that is occupied for investigation. It is a camera that is connected with the computer. It is a type of digital video camera that sends and receives data through computer and internet. IP cameras have their own IP address and computing functions to handle communication at network level.
IP security cameras can either be:
- Centralized : It requires central video recorder to handle the recording, video and alarm management.
- Decentralized: it does not require central video recorder.
An IP Security Camera Has:
- Built-in software for webserver, FTP server, FTP client and email client.
- Alarm input
- Relay output
- Motion detection
- Analog video output
There are six types of IP security cameras:
- Day and night
Fixed and cube IP security cameras are a good selection for observing a very precise area. Such cameras clearly capture the desired point. Fixed cameras also exist in dome models, in which a fixed camera is located inside a dome. Such security cameras are small and discreet that provides unremarkable surveillance.
DAY and Night
It aids to offer constant 24-hour surveillance. Near infrared (IR) light is the major source to capture images in lowlight as well as in complete darkness. Some day/night IP camera models have fixed IR illuminators that provide light to increase the camera’s night video abilities. Throughout the day the cameras produce full color images but at night images are the black and white.
It is a variable type of IP security camera that connects to a network without wires. It is advantageous over others because it can be placed wherever security is required. External antenna helps to make any camera as wireless.
Indoor cameras are preferably suitable in suburban, office, and retail environments. Indoor cameras are accessible in a wide variety of models.
Outdoor cameras are particularly planned to endure the rigors of outdoor use. The cameras are typically enclosed in IP66 or IP67-rated weatherproof housing that safeguards against wind, moisture, dust, and other hazards. Many outdoor IP security cameras are also fortified with day/night functionality for security purposes.
Such cameras are high resolution equipment that provides security and investigation. PTZ cameras give features such as pan, tilt, and zoom. It can also be described as a camera and computer combined into one unit. Captured video is transported over an IP network via network switches and is recorded to a PC server with video management software.
